stacykimpa
Hi all!!! Anyone here apply to RCC-2013 yet? This is my second time around and I was wondering if I should rewrite my personal statement or if it's okay to keep my personal statement the same. Also, I took my human anatomy fall/2008 is that still good? It states that we need to have this class within 5 years. Is this still considered within 5 years? any thoughts Good Luck Everyone stacy
CSeyfi
Hi Stacy! I'm applying to RCC -2013. I just actually spoke to an advisor at RCC and she said as long as the class is within the five years at the time of application (Aug 2012) then you're ok.Hope this helps! Good luck. -Christina
cgbloke
I have heard that if you are re-applying that you should rewrite your personal statement. The idea I guess is to include the things that you have done since applying last time to improve your application or why you still want to attend that school. ktcan10
Hey, everyone! I'm applying to RCC in 2013 for the 2014 class, and I was wondering what advice everyone had on contacting admissions or arranging a prerequisite counseling session. I would really like to make sure all my classes count before I apply and am disappointed; it seems like something that I can control. I'm enrolled at RCC for some prerequisites, but I haven't had much luck actually getting to talk to anybody in the know on PA prereqs. Anybody have any advice? bms1015
Ktcan10, I would recommend meeting with an advisor at the moreno valley campus. It does not have to be a faculty member associated with the PA program as any advisor at the college can give you the information you are looking for. Alternatively, you can pm me any concerns you may have. I am a first year student in the program and I can most likely answer any questions you have. Goodluck with your application. Heart 4 Health
Bms1015, I was interested in RCC's PA program, but heard they are on probation for their accreditation for the program. Have you heard any news about what they are doing to make sure the program goes back to good-standing? Thanks in advance for your input!

ICURN
Hey guys! I am currently an ICU RN. Would love to do this program! Is the application process tough? Has anyone been involved in the program and know what to expect as far as class schedules/clinicals? Thanks!
jbsloco
Hello everyone! I will be applying this year for my first time. I am a licensed Psychiatric Technician and have been back in school for pre-reqs for this program. I noticed the RCC PA program is on probation. That's a little disappointing. The community college I'm currently attending had a review for their accreditation. They were put on "show-cause" warning by ACCJC (Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges) but we were able to make great progress to "warning" level which is the least severe level of sanction. I will keep my options open and attend more classes so I can be eligible for other PA programs. I don't want to put all my hope in RCC, but I do hope they can make progress to keep their PA program open!

Bnbower
Hi everybody,So it seems this year that the RCC forum has been pretty quiet. Besides receiving their postcard indicating that their application was received, have any of you that applied for the class beginning this year heard anything else? A letter, phone call, anything? If you guys don't mind sharing, I would love to know where we all stand so far in the selection process. Good luck to all of us, Jeanette Hi Jeanette, I received a letter at the beginning of February that stated that my application would be processed in accordance with policy 5055. Hope this helps and please let me know if you here anything. I will do the same for you. Respectfully, Brian
junebuggy
Brian and all others, At this point, I am happy  to hear at least one person that has applied has heard something. For me, it is the anxiety of not knowing anything. At this point, I would even prefer a rejection letter so at least I can stop worrying. I do live in Ontario and have not received the letter you got regarding the board policy. Do you live in the district or outside? I feel like maybe those who live within the district received this letter. Feel free to post here or you can private message me. Thanks again for the reply back. Sincerely, Jeanette

junebuggy
Vet-up, Thank you for sharing where you are in the application process. So between you and Bnbower, that's two confirmed applicants that have had some kind of communication. I think that this year, the process might be a little different because of some of the program changes. To other previous posters, if you are willing, can you please share with us any information you may have recently received. We are all in this together and let's all help each other stay positive and be supportive  f I hear anything myself, I will definitely be posting. maxwell.kahle
How Does the RCC PA program selection work? I've heard it's through a lottery, which doesn't seem right to me. Does this mean there is no real competition in the application process? Thanks, Max
cgbloke
I went to one of their orientations and this is what I got out of it: Everyone who applies is screened to see if their application is complete and accurate, if anything is lacking then they are instantly removed from consideration. Then they are checked to see if you meet all of the prerequisites, if you don't you head to the rejected pile. Everyone who makes it to this point is then placed in groups based on location. A set percentage of students are drawn at random from each group to fill the class, with those living withing RCC's district first (and highest percentage) followed by Riverside, California and then outside of California. Anyone applying from outside of California has the smallest percentage (# of draws) but still has a chance to make the class. There is no interview process or additional testing. It was made very clear by the program leaders that your application must be filled out perfect in order to make it to the selection process. Using a wrong form or not providing all of your transcripts results in removal for consideration.

For the last part of your statement, is it necessary to include a transcript of one school where you took a class that wasn't a prerequisite to the program? Or can that be left out since it was irrelevant? Also, I took several classes at Norco College and wasn't too happy with the grades I got there (last semester). I am now taking 1 of the classes again but at another school. Will I still be considered as "living within RCC's district" since I took several classes at Norco? Half of the week I stay in Corona and the other half I stay in Orange County for work. Please let me know. Thanks!
docasay
Everyone, I spoke with RCC today, and the receptionist stated that they are still reviewing applications and she couldn't give me a date when letters will go out, but she did say if I didn't hear anything by April 1 to call back. Just wanted to give you all a heads up.
cgbloke
You must include a transcript for every college attended. According to the presenters, if you are accepted they will verify through the student clearinghouse and if you are found to have lied you will be dropped from the program. They used to have a preference (so I was told) for current students but now it is only for students living within their district. They have a link on their site somewhere that lists the zip codes.
