smiththrs
I still have about a year and six months left on my undergraduate, but I was speaking with my adviser and he was concerned with some of my credits. I went to college the first time in 2007 and during the first term I decided that college was not what I wanted to do so I dropped out and joined the fire department in Las Cruces, NM. I picked up my EMT- basic certificate and treated many patients for around a year, still being irresponsible and not able to figure out what I wanted to do with my future I joined the Marine Corps, and went on to be a squad leader in an infantry battalion. I was injured by an IED on the 19th of June 2010 and was honorably medically retired following injuries to my right leg. The problem I am facing is when I dropped out of school in 2007 I never withdrew and I took four failing grades, I have spoken with New Mexico State University and told them my predicament, but was offered no solution so as it stands I have four failing grades on my college transcript. I am concerned that RRCC will see this on my transcripts and I will be passed over based solely on a mistake I made five years ago. I appreciate any help on this matter and look forward to hearing from anyone that has been in this situation, I apologize if this is the wrong forum to post this in. aredstone
I would address the issue on your application. State why it happened and how you have learned, changed etc. Then move on and show what you have accomplished since then. We have all made mistakes. What you have to do is focus on your positives and make sure that you have an answer for why those grades are there. Red Rocks is a great place in that they are looking for applicants that have experience and they look at the whole person. I didn't have the best gpa either.
