Hello All,

Wanted to go ahead and start the thread for UW's 2017/2018 application cycle.

Here's a place to enter all questions and comments having to do with CASPA, interviews, etc.

I am interested to know:

-Which program are you going for and why?

-How many of you are second time applicants?

-If you don't mind sharing, what are some of your stats?

Thanks! And good luck to all applicants!

Hey guys,

Just wondering what topic you guys discussed for this essay question: All applicants are encouraged to provide an essay offering personal information not found elsewhere in the application.

It's so open ended and I'm sort of lost..

This is the only thing holding me back before I can submit to UW-Madison!

So for this essay I struggled a bit, I decided to write a short essay about what my future professional goals are, and some aspects that make me a unique candidate. I am from a rural area, and I hope to practice in a rural area in the future so I talked about that. Pretty generic.. But if you have any life changing events or anything that could make you stand out I would put it in this essay! :)

I submitted my CASPA to this program a few days ago but have not received any sort of confirmation from Wisconsin-Madison. I did, however, get the confirmation email from CASPA.  Did everyone get confirmation from the school and if so, when?

I have not. I'm a second time applicant, and I didn't get a confirmation e-mail last year, just the rejection, so I think that is how they roll. Their staff is very nice, so I think it wold be okay to email and ask for confirmation if it would make you feel better. They don't notify you of your status until December and do interviews after that, so it will be awhile before we hear anything.

I sent my application to UW-Madison for the on-campus option!

I am working on my 2nd year of my master's degree in biomedical science.

  • GPA: 3.5.
  • Patient contact hours: 1,300.
  • Shadowing hours: 88.
  • 5 letters of recommendation: 2 professors, 1 nursing director, 1 ophthalmology PA, and 1 optometrist.

I did not receive a confirmation, but my CASPA says everything is verified. I think I am just waiting to hear if I get an interview. Does anyone know the month that the interviews are?

we should hear back mid-December, and I believe interviews start in January.

Hi guys!

GPA = 3.83; SGPA= 3.79

PCE = 1,000 (Phlebotomist)

Volunteer = 3 years as Boys & Girls Club volunteer (like 200 hours); Medical mission trip to Nicaragua (180 hours)

Shadowing = 12 hours

I'm a first time applicant, so I'm kind of bracing myself for a rejection. However, I would be thrilled to get into Madison. Applied for the regular, on-campus option.

Good luck to you all!

Hello everybody! I am also a first time applicant and applied to the on-campus option, and both distance programs. Any of these three or Augsburg are my top choices. However, I'm trying to stay realistic as I know some of my stats are lacking.

cGPA: 3.75

PCE: 1350 hours (Mobile Unit CNA at a local hospital)

Volunteer: ~80 hours in ED and school clubs

Shadowing: 11 hours with PAs, 12 hours with MDs

Good luck everyone!

Does anyone know how many interview invitations are extended for the 25 on campus seats?

I was wondering this as well. This is what the website says: "UW-Madison PA Program admission interviews take place over a five-week period in January and February. Each invited candidate selects a two-day (Thursday-Friday) session. Approximately 20 candidates are invited to interview each week." This information does not specify how it is broken down by program though.

I watched the information session that was recorded last month and got some good information. It said they had about 752 applicants this year. They interview around 125 and accept 52 total for all the programs. Since they send out interview invites so late, I wonder how many applicants that they invite to interview have already been accepted and paid a seat deposit elsewhere.
