thisPAadventure
Has anyone heard back from the program that their application has been forwarded to the adcom? Hi Boli, Yes, I received an email yesterday saying that I met criteria and my application was sent for full faculty review. How about you? Good luck all! duhipna
Just FYI as someone who has applied here before and also gone to the reapplicant sessions don't be surprised if you don't hear anything any until later July. They said don't even start reviewing them until after July 1. Good luck everyone!

Good luck all! Yup I'm in the same boat. Forwarded to faculty for review, "which can take awhile". Now the waiting game. Looks like they sent out the first interview invites around the beginning of Sept. last year
mt0701
I need some advice for the supplemental application. In the instructions, it says, "Grades entered for courses with stand-alone labs should reflect the lecture portion only. Do not enter grades for stand-alone lab coursework." I attended UCLA, and the classes were separated between lecture and lab components. For the General Biology and Chemistry requirement, 5 quarter units are required. If I do not include the lab portion though, I do not meet the requirement since all General Biology and Chemistry classes at UCLA are only 4 quarter units. With the lab added, I would fulfill the 5 quarter units. What do you think I should write on the supplemental application under the courses? I emailed MEDEX, but it may take up to 7 days for a reply. I want to submit now though. Any thoughts?

I would think a stand alone lab would include taking a lab without concurrently taking the lecture portion. At my uni we took lab+lecture separate but concurrently, and I included the grades from both lab and lecture on the supplemental. Maybe I did it wrong, but mine was forwarded to the adcom already! Hope that helps.

From my experience last year, and looking at past forums, the first batch of interview invitations will go out around September. They will give you a one month notice from the interview date. There are also interviews in December and January.
RadTech
Hello! I am a first year student, just starting on the summer portion. I am in Spokane Class 21. If you have specific questions please send me a message on here, I will be happy to answer them as I get to them. Please don't be in a rush though, as I am now embarking on this busy journey! Good luck to you all! My best advice is to be patient, even though it's hard to! Also, if you do get an interview, be real! Be YOU! They'll know it if you are not! Don't be too disheartened if you do not get an interview, there were, if I recall correctly, ~1700 applicants and ~130 accepted this year. Spokane interviewed in October and January last cycle. The others I don't know of. You get 3-4 weeks notice. Also, check the course calendars, this will give you an idea of when things will happen for applicants. Interviews will NOT be until a few weeks after Fall quarter starts.
kaestnerk
I cannot wait to hear back from MEDEX. My first choice is the Seattle campus. Do any past applicants have any insight into the program and its curriculum (pros, cons, interesting characteristics)? I am not too worried about the location geographically such as with traffic, weather and whatnot - just would like any details about the curriculum itself! Please and thank you, and good luck to all! Hey! I don't have much to say about long-term experience, but here are a few thoughts: The faculty here are really passionate, they are interested in YOU as a person and want you to succeed. I hardly know these people, but know I could count on them if I needed something. My one reservation about MEDEX was first time PANCE pass rates, but I mentioned that in my interview and they told me everything that is in progress to improve their curriculum to help students pass the PANCE. That said, they are not only teaching you to pass a test, they are first teaching you to be an exceptional PA. More recent PANCE scores reflect their new focus on this. MEDEX NW is the largest civilian PA program in the country, have a huge faculty:student ratio (about 1:6). They have been a school basically since the creation of the PA profession which brings a ton of resources and a huge network! You are assigned a specific faculty advisor who helps and coaches you along the way. I thought I never had a chance at a school of this caliber, but I am here and so happy that we chose each other! I am only 4 weeks in, so I have little insight, any other more specific questions?

My wife is currently a 2nd year student getting ready to start her Clinical Rotations. The curriculum is tough, you go through quite a bit in a short amount of time. I can't speak directly to the curriculum since I'm not in the program but we have talked a lot. Plan to spend a lot of time studying, you do a few papers, even more if your in the masters program. You also have a lot of reading and the tests can be brutal at times. If you are weak in an area make sure you get with classmates who are strong and can help you. My wife was in Anchorage so different site but all the same material. Don't expect to have a life and from the support POV make sure you have a good support system. I didn't bother her with the day to day stuff and didn't really speak with her that much because all the students spent so much time studying. Our kids understood that (10 and 5 at the time so it was a bit har) but I kept them busy and she would talk when she could. She does jump in here from time to time so if you reply back to me with any other questions, I will let her know.

tpuett
I also received my criteria met email - since this is my third application I know that is only the first step but I am excited to know I am in the consideration pile. Tacoma Masters is my first choice due to location but Seattle works great also. I am really hoping to get an interview this year! I wonder if they let you interview for both sites or if they narrow it down to one prior to interviewing you. I'll be thrilled either way. Good luck! They take into consideration the second choice if they need to fill more seats at that campus. But typically, in my classmates' and my own experience, the second choice does not account for too much. Interviews are typically done at the site you have chosen and you will be notified about 1 month before. interviews with MEDEX are fun! I had a few last year and I definitely enjoyed my time interviewing with the MEDEX faculty more than any other school. They really want to know YOU! That said, if you interview here, practice up on typical PA interview questions (there's a good book on Amazon). But add YOU into the answers. I think I said this before, but invites will probably go out early to mid September.
PACrankset
Anyone currently attending the Spokane site? This is my first preference, am wondering where the clinical sites might be for students at the Spokane site. Feel free to message me if you are a current student, it would be great to get a current students perspective on the site and the town itself. Thanks
