asulzener
If a program requires a Statistics prerequisite, does "Intro to Statistics" count? The reason I'm asking is because the two schools I currently attend post baccalaureate to finish my prereqs offer Introductory Statistics, Basic Probability and Statistics and Statistics. *Before you say that the best route is the contact the program, I have already done so for both programs requiring Stats. One sent back an auto response that the applicant must refer to the course descriptions and another said roughly the same thing. Thanks in advance! loliz
So what did the course descriptions say? My instinct says no--- usually if a program requires a specific subject, the intro level course is not what they are looking for.
jlynneg
I took intro to statistics and it counted for the program I am attending. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk
TomB
This would be a question for the specific program. I took "elementary statistics" with no issue but every school is going to have a different requirement.
GeorgeA
Your best bet is to contact the program and have the course descriptions ready to send to them.
panglossian
I took Statistics with Calculus and contacted several programs with the course syllabus and description to ask if it would count. All the programs have contacted so far have said yes. You need to provide the school with more information than just the title of the course. Many schools list the topics that must be covered by the prerequisite (i.e. probability, variables/distribution, confidence intervals, etc)
DarcyJ
I can only speak for when I asked my first-choice school, but Introductory Micro is all that's available at the CC's here. An Eastern Virginia Medical School rep said that would suffice when I emailed a course description and title to them. However, I know that South University won't take anything below a 200/2000 level Micro. :-/ (Intro to Micro here is a 150 course.)It stinks that you couldn't get a more individualized response from the schools you're interested in. That's one reason I love EVMS. They've been so great with email correspondence and I fell in love when I went to the info session on campus.
