Reapplying & PS

Recommended Posts

Long story short- I am reapplying this cycle and I'm so lost with my personal statement.

For my first personal statement, I wrote about different things as far as what led me to this point of wanting to become a PA, patient interactions I've had that made an impact on me, and other details about the population I live in etc. But how do I address things that I've improved since my last application cycle if the school has a supplemental essay for re-applicants asking the same thing? I'm at a crossroads because I don't want to write the same thing twice so I'm not sure how to address that. Suggestions? My last question is if I'm applying to a couple programs I didn't apply to last year will they frown upon me talking about my improvements from the previous cycle or will it not matter?

Thank you all!

My first cycle I applied I sent my app to 10 schools and got straight rejections.

The second cycle I applied I sent my app to more schools. Because of that, I was a reapplicant at some programs, but a new applicant to others.

I made the decision to not talk about being a reapplicant in my new personal statement. I wrote a completely new essay and I talked about a few of the new experiences I had since the last application cycle but I made no mention that those experiences were me trying to improve from last year.

When I read my first PS versus my second one when I was accepted, the difference is clear how much better the second one ended up being.

I would leave specifically talking about improvements you have made since last cycle for your supplemental essays so you can be more specific towards each school.
