Are these LORs enough?

At my school, when a student applies to a professional school, we are in charge of assembling a committee that can write a joint LOR in our favor. As part of my committee, I have the head of my department, the dean of students, my academic adviser, my research adviser, and a professor who taught my organic and biochemistry series. 

 

On top of my committee letter of rec., I will be receiving a letter of rec. from a previous employer and a family medicine PA that I shadowed for 40 hours. 

 

Have I covered all bases, and will these LORs be sufficient? 

 

I am taking a jump and applying this cycle without getting a sufficient number of HCE hours (I have 2 hours lol), so I want every other bit of my application to be perfect. This is a jump, and I know that the chances of getting in are slim. You can't blame me for trying! :)

If they're strong letters of recommendation, they should be okay.. But the one where you only worked with them for 40hrs won't be weighed as highly as the others and they won't care about the previous employer unless it was in medicine. I would wait until you've had more hours to apply. Having the experience gives you exposure that makes it easier to learn in didactic.

It depends on the programs you apply. Some programs specifically ask you to submit certain number of LORs and/or from specific person (for example, PA that you shadow, your current employer's supervisor, your science professor, etc). So I would double check with the programs.

On the CASPA website it says that a PA whom you have shadowed are no longer allowed as a recommendation.

Thank you for the update. I didn't think that was logical.

 

Thank you all for the advice. I know some of the programs I looked at specify whom they want their LORs from, which is super helpful.

Curious where you saw that as I'm not seeing that anywhere (and we have confirmation above it is untrue).

I think that's good, unless any of your schools require a letter from specifically a professor. My undergrad also has an assembly committee for pre-health students, so I have an assembly committee letter (that includes the pre-health adviser, two bio professors, and a psychology professor that I was a TA for), a genetics professor from a post-bacc class, and a PA that I shadowed.
