New Army Direct Commission - Insight needed

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I submitted by application for the Army HPLRP a couple months ago and was recently told by my recruiter that I have been activated off the order of merit. Are there any recent Army direct commissions out there (went to civilian PA school and then straight into active duty Army) that can shed some insight on their experience? Feel free to PM me or just talk amongst the forum for others to see.

I am a retired Army PA, and despite the fact that I went through the Army PA program (pre IPAP) I may be able to give a little insight. I retired in 2009 but this should still apply.

What you experience has a lot to do with your background. Are you in a specialty? What are you looking for?

Do you have any military experience at all?

You will be commissioned and go to Officer Basic Course to get some very basic introductions into being in the military. Physical fitness, uniforms, Army mission and structure, medical battlefield operations.

Then you will most likely be assigned to a combat type unit or in a unit that supports a combat unit.

From that point on there are several pathways you can go. Advanced training. Education/ teaching. Command.

If you have any specific question please ask.

Kyle
