pa456
What is the average time written in contracts for notice required before quitting? Is 90 days excessive (this is in contract I'm considering)? Should I ask to get this reduced?
GetMeOuttaThisMess
60 days IMO
beattie228
60 days max. Typical rule of thumb is same amount of PTO you get should be the amount of head's up you give.
Moderator ventana Posted March 27, 2017 Moderator Share Posted March 27, 2017 business world # of weeks vacation you get Physicians - commonly 3-9 months PA - I think somewhere between 1-4 months is reasonable unless you are an owner/partner 1 month is SHORT - not very good 4 months is LONG but if you are in a two provider practice, and no other practices around - these patients are yours and you have a duty to see them off.... 2-3 months is probably reasonable
ajnelson
Many places I've worked, its been 90 days, as it can take at least that long to find, hire and credential a new provider. On the flip side, when leaving, that 90 days is a LONG time.....
GetMeOuttaThisMess
Why is it OUR problem for them to find a replacement? I stick with my two months. They sure wouldn't hesitate to stick it to you if need be.
ajnelson
Never said it was our problem...All I was pointing out is that getting in your replacement can take that long. So, the places I've worked have required 90 days, which would allow them bring on your replacement. Not every job you leave ends of being on bad terms

They sure wouldn't hesitate to stick it to you if need be. If you are in a small practice, with your own panel of patients their is some ethical responsiblity to not abandon your patients. This is not a legal issue, but what is "right" has to be consider. I would say 60 days is the bare minimum in this situation. IF you are in a big hospital system or huge practice, well then that is a bit different....
