I am sure those of us that are gearing up for the new application cycle opening up in April, are feeling the pressure and stress quite intensely (or having been feeling it for a while.. hah!), so best of wishes to us all! I understand that we need to enter all out pertinent experience directly to CASPA as well as attach a resume. I have created resumes in the past for potential jobs, but never from the aspect of someone applying to PA school. I am wondering if there is a recommended format, or certain types of information that must be entered in certain order (for resume/CV). Guest HanSolo Posted March 23, 2017 Share Posted March 23, 2017 I think there are many ways to go about this. I would tend to say its more like a job resume than an academic like CV. You will want to have the most relevant experience stand out: education, meaningful prior work and health care experience. Perhaps include a short section on licenses or certificates like EMT, MA, etc. Everything else can go into the "experience" section of CASPA. While I can't say for sure, I imagine if you are applying to programs that require at resume/cv in addition to all of the information filled out in CASPA, then it's likely that they will use that resume to get straight to the "meat and potatoes" of your file. When constructing your file, think that someone may only look at your resume for 15 seconds. Make yourself stand out! If your strength is a super high GPA - then make sure they see that right away. If it's loads of diverse HCE, then emphasize that first. Conversely, if you have a subpar GPA, I wouldn't put that on the top of the page. I hoped this helped! If so what was the format of that? I applied last cycle more for practice since I am still finishing undergrad, but when I did I never attached a cover letter. I also heard that a resume should be 1-2 pages and catered to specific work and experiences for PA school. I.e. if you worked at chik-fil-a your senior year of high school you don't need to include it. A CV includes every work and experience. In that case would it be better to apply with a resume only?
