MediMurphy
Good luck, applicants! I can't wait to meet some of you in the fall! Tips: attend an advisement session (posted on the PA program website) whether you are in-state or out of state. Shadow a PA student as well. They like to see that you are doing research in how PA school is really like.
KP5537
I interviewed last year and they sent us a long email with reapplicant tips as well as statistics of the most recent class. Would you guys like some insight?
hgill
I would love some insight! This will be my first time applying to U of O.
KP5537
Okay! So the stats for the class of 2019 were: GRE average: 310 Total GPA: 3.48, Science GPA: 3.40, Last 60 GPA: 3.64 64% female, 36% male Avg age= 30 Ethnicity: 55% white, 45% non white 60% in state, 37% out of state. Also 48% of the accepted applicants were repeat applicants. I found that number to be significant. Hopefully these stats helped some of you out and shed some insight. Lat year was my first time applying and I am from out of state. They also stated receiving 415 applications, having 285 interviews, and accepting 52. I absolutely loved the facilities and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. There was more to this email but I don't feel like typing it all out! They gave a comparison to previous classes as well and provided tips, etc.
hgill
Do you know what the GPA ranges were? Like the lowest accepted? Mine is a bit lower than the average.
KP5537
Do you know what the GPA ranges were? Like the lowest accepted? Mine is a bit lower than the average. There was no range provided just an average. As long as you hit the 3.0 minimum I would make sure the rest of your application stands out to make up for it. Try to score higher on your GRE and make sure your most recent credit hours have decent grades since those are the biggest indicator of current acadmic status. Are you from Oklahoma? That would likely be advantageous as well.
KP5537
Good luck to everyone applying! Make sure you get everything in early :) Just so you know, they view all of their applications at the same time! Last year I applied three days before the deadline and received an interview. I'm not encouraging late applications, but don't compromise quality in order to get it completed faster. Just my advice! :)
okiepa-s
Just so you know, they view all of their applications at the same time! Last year I applied three days before the deadline and received an interview. I'm not encouraging late applications, but don't compromise quality in order to get it completed faster. Just my advice! :) Sorry, I should have been more clear in my comment. That is correct, OU does not being reviewing applications until after the Oct. 1st deadline. I meant to get everything into CASPA early because they do their own internal application verification and that *can* take 2-3 weeks. Make sure you don't wait until the last minute because if CASPA isn't done verifying then your application won't be sent to OU. But definitely do not sacrifice your application just to get it in early either :)

I would check out their website, but a huge difference is the Tulsa campus is still a 30 month program.

KatyL
If it's like years in the past, you won't hear anything until you either get a phone call for an interview, or a denial letter. With over 800 applications, there is no way they would have the time to let you know they got everything or not. If you got caspa and supplemental submitted on time, you should be good to go! prePAgal
Last year we got called for interviews around the 1st to 2nd week of October. Interviews then took place the first week of November and the first week of December. I called recently to check if they were doing the same thing this year and I was told that they are probably just doing the one week of interviews in December this year. They should be making those calls in November sometime. Just an update for anyone wondering! Keep the faith everyone :)
KP5537
I agree! Last year I was called around the middle of October and was given the option to schedule my interview in November or December. The fact that they are only doing one week of interviews in December is new information to me. That is comforting to hear though. I'm sure we will receive a call in the next couple of weeks regarding interviews. This is definitely a process, but hang tight everyone!
jonescarx
Will there be a phone call or an email to invite you to an interview or give you a denial? Does anyone know?
KatyL
Will there be a phone call or an email to invite you to an interview or give you a denial? Does anyone know?Typically a phone call for an interview because you have to pick your day and time. In the past those have gone out first, then denial emails/letters like a week or so later.
