Contract Help in Colorado

Recommended Posts

HELP! My husband and I have been working at our current jobs in rural Colorado for the past 2.5 years. All of a sudden they want to put us on contract. Specifically what bothers me on the contract is that they want me to commit to 3 more years before I can even put in a 90 day notice to leave. Is this typical? Does anyone have any contacts for a CPA or attorney in Colorado that is familiar with PA contract negotiations? Thanks in advance!

As a new grad I was willing to sign a multi-year contract, but only if the company/clinic/whatever was going to offer loan repayment of something.  I lucked out and don't have a multi-year contract, just if I leave before 24 months I have to return my "sign on bonus."

Once I have 2.5 years of experience, I doubt I would be willing to sign a multi-year agreement, unless I was getting something in return.  The company/clinic/whatever probably is trying to guarantee that employee turnover won't increase, but the reality is that guarantee should not be contractual it should be based on the salary, benefits, and workplace environment they provide.
