SCPA
Please scrutinize this offer! I thank you in advance for your thoughts. I'm going in to my 3rd year of practice. Have had to this point only straight salary, and not had to consider any RVU based income. This is a busy rural practice, which offers NHSC (I'm in the loan repayment program currently). The patient panel at this practice is over 3,000. There will be 2 and hopefully 3 providers including myself. Year 1: The greater of base salary of $99K or $26 per RVU. Years 2-3: The greater of base salary of 75K or $26 per RVU. Benefits: 5K sign on bonus. 1500 CME, insurance, 401k, licenses paid for. Close to home. PTO is accrued at 7.35 hours per pay period (bi weekly) I was given as an example a provider in the company who saw 18 PPD generated 4458 RVUs and in this scenario would gross $115,908. MT2PA
Is there a typo in there or could you potentially see a nearly $25k REDUCTION in salary in subsequent years?
SCPA
Is there a typo in there or could you potentially see a nearly $25k REDUCTION in salary in subsequent years? Thanks for your reply. I looked at that funky too the first time I read it... I'm assuming the base salary is higher in year 1 to establish a patient panel, then salary would be generated from RVU's. If you don't hit enough RVUs you could end up with $75k....if they are banking on you making enough to benefit from the $26/RVU they should have no problem keeping a base of $99k or better the 2nd/3rd years just in case. JPMiller
This is pretty common. I have a slightly different structure. Guaranteed salary first 2yrs, then rvu based. PAs average 550-600 RVUs a month at my clinic. Works out Very well for us.

It seems like I should be able to fairly easily meet or even exceed the first year's salary with this structure, but again have never worked for RVUs which is why i'm here asking for help! SCPA
MUST have full unrestricted access to ALL billing and receipts to verify they are doing it right! Absolutely! transparency is a must. Thanks for your thoughts. Anyone have an opinion if $26 per RVU is a fair rate? Push for higher dollar amount per RVU? I should add that despite this being RVU based, this is not a meat market and there is still a focus on quality work, which is important to me. JPMiller
We are in UC. 26 is in the middle of the ranges I've heard. We get monthly reports of our RVUs And total billed off of those RVUs.

Thanks! Salary after my first year will obviously be generated entirely from RVUs so I want to be sure 26$ per RVU seems legit... Anyone else have thoughts?
