NCCPA on why EM CAQ scores take so long

Recommended Posts

I am still shocked it takes 3 months to get a score for the CAQ.  Here's a reply I received from NCCPA on why:

Thank you for your email  I'm sorry you are frustrated with the scoring process regarding the CAQs.  However, it is stated clearly on the CAQ website that the score would not be released until late November 2016.  The reason the scores are not released immediately is due to the fact that our Exam Development department conducted a Standard Setting meeting in October to determine the appropriate cut score for all of the CAQs.  That analysis was presented to the NCCPA Board at their meeting this past weekend for approval....Let me know if you have any additional questions.

I have never been too worried about passing.  Just want the darn score so I can go to my boss and see about getting a bonus before the end of the year!

I find it funny they have to meet to determine the appropriate "cut score" seemingly every year.  Is this something they do yearly for the PANCE/PANRE?  Seems that maybe not enough people are taking each specialty CAQ to set a good standard of deviation.
