Wake PA-S
If you have a solid GPA, GRE, HCE, then I think it matters zilch. The vast majority of my class has little to no research experience. I'm not an admissions committee but from what I've seen it's not an important factor.
Guest GoyaHoya69
I don't believe it to be necessary for a strong applicant, but I have been on a few interviews where the interviewers specifically commented on it and were impressed with the amount of publications and poster presentations I have on my CV. So I would consider it an added bonus on your application. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
marktheshark89
Depends on the mission of the school and their curriculum. Yale for example values research more than other programs because they have a research curriculum woved through didactic and a thesis required for graduation. They also ask about it on your supplemental application.
sushithefish
Most PA programs don't really care about research, unless there's patient interaction. PA schools are focused on making clinicians, not researchers. If you don't have it, that's fine. If you do, it's interesting and you can discuss transferable skills such as attention to detail, critical thinking, analytical skills, etc.
Administrator rev ronin Posted October 25, 2016 Administrator Share Posted October 25, 2016 How important is research experience in the application process? For most schools, not at all. The primary reason it's in there, I suspect, is to reduce the number of frantic phone calls that go something like "But I've spent 1,200 hours on this research... Surely it HAS to go on CASPA SOMEWHERE?!?!"
