Accepted Students- Class of 2019

Recommended Posts

I want to begin by saying how crazy it is has been and I'm sure many of you guys that have made it feel the same. Congratulations to those of us who have been accepted. I cannot be more excited and humbled to join the class of 2019.

It is still early in the application but I want to invite everyone including those who are waiting to be interviewed to share their thoughts. For those that have been accepted, let's keep each other in contact until we meet next year. I hope this will serve as a platform to help those who have been accepted and those that are waiting to be accepted. For example, I will need info for housing so if you guys know of a good place to look for housing, please share!

congrats on the interview!!! my advice is to stay relax. I know this sounds like a bad advice but seriously, they are not going to ask you anything you don't know because most of the questions will be from your personal statements. However, they do expand on some things from your application but it won't be difficult to answer. If you're staying with another student, great! use that time to get to know the program a little bit more. If not, don't worry, you will have many opportunities to ask your questions to students throughout the day. If you can, eat a light breakfast because your morning will be long. you will go from one part to the next part with your group and there's a lot to do but they have it well structured. Stay calm and don't get competitive with others especially with the people in your group. What I mean by that is be yourself and don't run over people. Most importantly, ask questions. It is a two way conversation. They want to get to know you but also, think if Emory is the right fit for you.

Good luck!!

Hi everyone, my name is Amanda and I will also be in the class of 2019! I am a dual degree student currently completing my public health degree at Emory and cannot wait to meet you all! A few of us dual degreers had already started a class of 2019 FB page as well, Emory PA Program Class of 2019, perhaps we can join forces, we have just published the group as we now have classmates! Congrats everyone on getting in, and looking forward to next year!

I'm Heather and I Interviewed yesterday and got a call today that I've been accepted!!!!!! I was so excited I don't even remember what he said about the official acceptance...Does it come by email or snail mail? Definitely waiting anxiously for that so it can be official. So excited to be part of this class! Hoping to see some of the people I interviewed with as well. Everyone was so great!

Everyone kept telling me to be myself and try to relax which is incredibly difficult to do but it is good advice. They tell you right at the beginning that everyone they interview will be a great PA. At this point they are trying to get to know your personality to make up a cohesive class. They have a decent mix of questions (some the same as other students and some different). Take a deep breath and answer the questions honestly. Be you! Also, there are about a million chances to ask questions to students & faculty so you will have the opportunity to make sure it's what you want too! Everyone was really nice and welcoming! Good luck!

Congrats, Heather, that's awesome! I know the exact feeling -- I wanted to see it in writing! The offer letter comes via email, probably at the end of the week (I got mine on Friday). Can't wait to meet you!

Heather, I agree with Wamucc, it comes relatively quickly.  If you have any questions you can call Kaye Johnson, she is very helpful.  I called her because we had issues with our link to pay our deposit, very nice and she realizes the anxiety and what is at stake.

Secondly, has anyone found a good site to find a place to live.  Been looking but just looking at this point.  Any connections would be greatly appreciated as well.

Awesome! Thanks Mike! I think its definitely the anxiety factor going on here for me haha! I stayed with a student when I interviewed so I may be able to get some ideas for living places from her. Some of the students on interview day were talking about it and recommended living "in the perimeter" and close to Emory for the didactic portion as we will be there everyday. Clinical year you arent at Emory as much so you have a little more freedom. It seemed like people in their class lived basically everywhere though. I may be wrong but I believe that they send us some more info including popular places to live. Maybe the dual program people have some ideas as well? :)
