Mandy85
I am looking for some thoughts on these job offers I have received. I am located in NW Pennsylvania. I feel these offers are low compared to what I see on this site. This is the first offer I received. I turned it down because they needed and answer and I was hopeful for a better offer. Cardiology- 4 days a week M-F. Occasional weekends and holidays. 80k salary, 3.5k sign on bonus. 5k raise at one year and another 5k raise at year two. Hospitalist- 5 on 5 off. 10 hour shifts. Nights and Days. 76k. 3.5k sign on for 1 year commitment and 8k for 2 year. Was told roughly 1k bonuses every quarter. Only have to work 182 days a year, but working 208 days shift with cardiology seems like a better offer. (Side note, the other major hospital in the area has a private hospitalist group. The lowest they pay is 107k for an pa/np. There's no opening now) Senior living- M-F 40 hours 70k, 5k sign on bonus. Rural family practice- M-F 40 hours, 65k and bonuses for anything over 20 patients a day. Hindsight being 20/20 the first offer was the best. There could be a chance they're still looking for someone. Some of these offers just feel like they'd be taking advantage of my worth. I'm negotiating with the hospitalist group and the family practice now. I don't mind working 5 on 5 off/ nights with the hospitalist group, but I feel the compensation is low. Thanks for any insight! Poetsiren
Everyone I know first out of school as a PA has positions of AT LEAST 75K annual with benefits (average for primary care is 80-85K rural in TN). ALL of your offers seem low to me, and I'm in KY where the PA job market is just BAD.
bike mike
65k for FP? I made also that as a resident and could demand a significantly higher salary after one year. Walk away......quickly. Your cardiology job seems like the best offer. After two years you can demand a higher salary elsewhere if your employer won't pay market rate. cinntsp
76k for hospitalist work is insulting. Including nights with that is doubly so. It sounds like you need to move.
