RandomD
Just started the conversation of doing locums with Barton Associates today. Just wondering what your experiences have been with them or other locum services? Do you feel like they present both the PA and the clients wants/needs accurately to the respective party? Moderator ventana Posted September 14, 2016 Moderator Share Posted September 14, 2016 make sure you are an employee (not 1099) and you get travel and lodging and meals I feel the locums make a killing off PAs trying to pay you $50-60/hour while billing out $150/hour....... RandomD
It was presented to me as a 1099 situation. I thought that was pretty much the standard way they worked? I'll have to look into that

MyNameWasUsed
make sure you are an employee (not 1099) and you get travel and lodging and meals I feel the locums make a killing off PAs trying to pay you $50-60/hour while billing out $150/hour....... Isn't the point of locums is that the employer pays the PAs much more for them to work at a less desirable location/facility or for them to work just 1 shift a week as needed? Shouldn't the pay be much higher? Because PAs already make 50-60/hr so why bother with locum?
Moderator ventana Posted March 18, 2017 Moderator Share Posted March 18, 2017 Problem is the locums companies are trying to say the 1099 rate is pretty much the same hourly rate - I have been offered $50 and $55 per hour as a 1099 - no thanks I had countered with $75/hour as my min and got it. (And that was about 8 years ago) the point is they try to cheap out and pay a little to the PA as possible, and the 1099 designation they try to make not that much difference from an employee rate - whic is pure BS
MyNameWasUsed
so why don't we just not work for them then? It's not like it's hard to find a full time position at 50-55$/hr
