darrensaysbaaa
Hello all, I am a soon to be new grad and I was asked by an employer what duties/scope I would be allowed to perform if I was certified as a PA-C but still waiting for my california license. Can anyone shed some light on this? He was proposing I could shadow in that time but I thinking I should still be compensated if I were to do that. I've only had a phone conversation so far and no formal interview yet as I am currently out of state.
Reality Check 2
Ummm, nothing. You can shadow the doc. No license = no practice rights.
JohnnyM2
I understand you can get a CA licence pretty fast compared to, for example, Texas. But you need the state license to apply for DEA. Additional delay. Will that be a problem? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Reality Check 2
Seeing or touching patients or signing anything before your license puts you in jeopardy of practicing medicine without a license - a very very bad way to start your career. An employer should know about this timeframe and use that time to do HIPPA training, EMR training, orientation, credential paperwork and let you shadow other providers, learn the practice and get in the groove. Texas to Washington took 73 days 20 yrs ago and it hasn't improved much since. Read the California licensing site for details for your situation. Just don't put yourself at risk. It will all start soon enough. Don't let anyone rush you.
