laurenin
So I'm a psychology major with 3 semesters left (2 psych classes and all the prerequisites for PA school) and I just want a really honest opinion about my situation. Right now I have a 2.93 cGPA and I can realistically raise it to around a 3.2-3.3, and I'm expecting at least a 3.5 sGPA. I have absolutely no healthcare experience, but do you think that applying after a year of getting HCE (around 2,000 hrs) would give me a good shot of getting into PA school? Also, is there anything else I could do to help me stand out as an applicant? I feel like my grades are holding me back, but just being honest - I failed 2 classes that I took at a community college during high school (dual enrollment) and combined with a few C's, it's really brought my GPA down. I don't know if I'm being too harsh on myself or if I'm being realistic in thinking I don't have a chance.
twototango
My sGPA was a 2.8 last year and I had a cGPA of 3.2. I got 1 interview. This year I raised my sGPA to 2.9 and so far have received 2 interview invitations. Don't feel like your grades are holding you back, and just work on everything else! Everything else being- shadow PA's, community service, do well on the GRE, etc. As for the HCE situation, it really depends on the program you apply to. Some weigh more importance than other programs. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
iseewholewheat
Getting at least 2000 hours of HCE will help your application a great deal, and will open more available applications since that is the minimum at a few schools.
