Tennessee Job Market?

Recommended Posts

So I am a new grad and I'm from Middle Tennessee. Sadly I cannot really relocate at this time, but I'm willing to commute a good distance. Despite that it seems nobody around here is hiring new grads. I've submitted 30-40 CVs so far and only received one call. I've started to just walk into places and introduce myself, handing in my resume even if they aren't hiring. That being said, I still have not gotten any calls or emails. Has anybody else had this problem? Is Middle TN just over saturated? Or is this just because I'm not a Trevecca grad?

I ran across your post and it piqued my interest. I'm a recent grad from middle TN as well. I've actually just relocated to south AL to take a job in derm. I was set on Derm and had NO luck in TN period. I went to AZ to interview and had phone interviews from Lake Tahoe, Hilton Head, and a few in Florida. I know of one classmate that got a job in middle TN, but that is all. Sorry you're not having much luck. What area are you wanting or does it matter at this point?

I really think the market is saturated, especially for new grads. And pay is not great, from what I've seen. I've worked in Nashville since 2011, and the pay continues to be sub-par from what the AAPA salary report shows is even within the 50th percentile for pay. It's making me second guess staying here, especially given the CRAZY rise in cost of living. Hope you found something!
