Applying to schools

Recommended Posts

How did you choose which schools to apply to? I'm in Texas and know that prerequisites and costs are of the main factors, but what else? I'll consider moving out of state to get in. But there are so many schools... How do you narrow down the options?

I'm at the beginning of this journey... I'm an Xray tech going back to school and just need a little assistance [emoji38]

Look at their curriculum, some schools allow more electives to let you personalize your education, look at PANCE pass rates, you want these to be pretty good considering you will be paying a lot of money to be educated to pass the test. The average accepted student stats are important to, this is a good way to gauge your competitiveness at that school.

Have an idea of which states you would like to be in. Look up accredited PA programs and to narrow it down from there, look at their curriculum, PANCE pass rates, and you can look at how many clinical electives they allow if you want to be super picky. You can also try to grasp an idea of what population (patient-wise) you would like to become familiar with during your time in the program, because the location of the school typically facilitates that (near by clinicals, which hospitals/offices the school works with etc).
