krob0
Hi everyone, I graduate in August 2017 and was wondering when I should start applying for jobs. I figured I'm pretty far off but was curious when would be a good time especially because I am applying to jobs out of state ~5 hours from my school. Also, is it okay to apply to NP positions? Has anyone had any luck scoring a position through these? The city is more NP friendly than PA so there are more positions if I search NP. Thanks for the help! DizzyJ
Many of my prior positions have expected me to start with them within 60-90 days. Expectation could depend on private practice vs hospital setting. Going to work at any hospital, in which you need to be granted privileges, takes 2-3 months on average just for that processing time to occur. I interviewed for my first job in August and couldn't start until November. The process of getting NCCPA certified and state licensed takes time. So, you can start applying for jobs whenever you would like. It just depends on the need of the practice that is hiring. Maybe they don't need someone for 6 months or maybe they need someone in 2 weeks. Yes, apply for NP jobs and it could be possible. Depends on who the hiring person is and their knowledge. Administrator rev ronin Posted July 19, 2016 Administrator Share Posted July 19, 2016 I recommend seriously starting to look 6 months before graduation.
