cop to pa
4 days of orientation starting last Wednesday. First lecture tomorrow. A lot of administrative and team building to help aleviate the tension and help us get to know each other. Very positive attitudes all around. newton9686
Enjoy it. Orientation is like summer camp in my opinion. You get to hang out with a bunch of new people without a ton of responsibility. It is the same thing as undergrad, except it is very short in PA school before they begin fire hosing you with material.
Lauren R
My first day was full of new faces, ice breakers, paperwork and exciting explanations of what was to come. It was the least stressful day of PA school. Fun and exciting with a pinch of awkward. Unfortunately, I was the girl that I forgot her pen. Fortunately, there are a lot of overachievers in PA school. Most people have 5 pens the first day. That is probably the only day you can forget your pen without anyone yelling at you. Haha. The rest of the week was like high school. We kept busy and learned, but it was fun, not stressful. Good luck to everyone starting the field!

anewconvert
First day was a team building exercise making food bags for a local shelter, then catered lunch, then a lot of people talking at us, some awkward small talk and wishing they would just go ahead and get started teaching us. 10 months later i am wishing they would hurry up and get this day over with :)

murphycol31
1 day of orientation, by day 3 we were already starting cadaver lab. Taking each week at a time but there is always a feeling of not knowing enough no matter how much you study. The reality of PA school haha Sent from my SM-G900T using Tapatalk

It's a great feeling being done with (or nearing the end of) didactic for sure! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I start didactic in two weeks and it seems so crazy that one year is enough to cover all this information. I keep thinking "how can I possibly learn all this?" and everyone going into rotations just seems so excited for it to be over.

I think it would help you to constantly remind yourself that this is not a sprint. It is more like a 500k. Pace yourself, organization is a must. Keep your head down and power through. Then when you feel like you might quit ( it happens!) push harder! Your classmates will become invaluable resources academically as well as personally. Good luck to you! It is impossible to learn everything in a year. Treatment modalities are always changing. That's why this profession is dedicated to life long learning.
