2016/2017 Cycle

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

The time has come! Here we can discuss all things UW, CASPA, interviews etc.

I'm interested to know when people are turning in their CASPA (it's taking them forever to verify my transcripts) and what programs within UW people are applying for.

I hope to have everything ready to go and shipped out by the end of June. I'm applying for the MPH/PA dual degree program as well as the on-campus option.

Looking forward to the discussion! :)

No, everything is through CASPA. The supplemental application is just the essays and some of the other short answer questions that they have directly through CASPA. I called Julie today and she cleared that up for me, she said it's the first year that they're doing it this way. It's poorly worded on their website, she said she's working on changing it.

Applying again. Just applied for DE last cycle. Had an interview and was waitlisted. Still haven't heard a definitive "no" from them but assuming it is. Kind of disappointing. They said they would email any waitlisted when the class was filled.

Regardless, I am applying again, this time just to the on-campus program because I really like the program.

It's a good program, very competitive as a result. No shame in how far you made it last year and as a repeat applicant, I'm sure you'll have even better chances this round.

What do you think was the greatest weakness in your application? Have you already turned everything in? What were the interviews like?

Question for you all! The CASPA and supplemental applications are due on August 1st, 2016. Do they want applications to be VERIFIED by this date? Or just submitted? Thank you in advance.

I don't remember off the top of my head but I do know its on the caspa website in the faq

Did any of you get an email confirming that they received your application? I was just going through my school list and realized this is the only school where I haven't received that. I was verified for UW on 6/13.

I haven't received one either. I don't think they start looking at applications until after their deadline though.

Hi Everyone,

My application was submitted September 7th, and I have only received the confirmation email. I am really worried because I have unfortunately already received two rejections from other programs. My stats are as follows:

GPA: 3.59

Science GPA: 3.35 (I know this is low)

Verbal GRE: 157

Quantitative GRE: 160

Writing GRE: 4.5

Hours of Patient Care Experience:1700

Hours of Shadowing: 100

Is it completely hopeless to wait for an email about an interview? Especially with such a low science GPA. I also feel like I submitted 3 weeks ago, and if I was going to get an interview invite I feel as though I would have gotten it already :( This is my first time applying and I am afraid I will not get into any of the schools I applied for.

UW-Madison doesn't send out rejections or interview invites until the middle of December. It's definitely hard to stay patient, but stay positive! Good luck :)

I just wanted you to know that the deadline for applying to UW is August 1st, I'm surprised that CASPA even let you submit it late. Also, I submitted back in July and never received a confirmation email, nor anything about interviews yet which it seems is the norm for this program.

Your stats really aren't bad. Yes, sGPA could be higher but you did excellently on the GRE! Although UW doesn't look at GRE scores, other schools will and that will help you out tremendously.

I get how you feel, that's the beauty of this forum. I've been fretting about my status for months now with no immediate end in sight. Be proud of your application and all the hard work you've put in to get to this point. Negative thoughts and feelings are normal but don't let them dominate. Not sure if this is helpful but a lot of people that get accepted are on their second or third application cycle. Keep on keepin' on!
