New programs?

Recommended Posts

South College is starting a program just outside of Richmond, Va

Emory and Henry COllege is starting a program in south west virginia near Abingdon.

If you go to ARCPA you can see a list of every program. The ones with TBD accreditation status and start dates this year or next are most likely new programs. There are quite a few of them.

This "shockingly long list" is really concerning. I am beginning to see a potential environment for over saturation of PAs and in turn seeing a lowering of pay and a harder time finding a job. :(

It's possible but it's likely a long ways away.  The way the profession has been expected to grow, there are currently more positions than PAs.  Granted, it might mean taking jobs in specialties that aren't your first choice or off shifts or rural areas, etc.  Lucky for us, people will always need healthcare.

Also all of us starting this next cycle or already in school will have more experience than when the boom of new PAs make it to the market.  We will be valued for our experience

I mean...... I know nursing is a whole different world- but from 2005 to 2006, the US gained a WHOPPING 150+ programs... and still never filled the full nursing shortage- and they have gained 10 - 50 programs annually ever since...

I think PAs are in such sincere demand that we won't struggle to find jobs and reasonable incomes
