Josealga
Ok so I have one semester left and a summer class to do. Approximately (12-16 credits) left depending on some courses. My GPA is at a 3.627 and I want it at the 3.6 range for these programs. I am just wondering about the GPA most students get in. The programs say one GPA,but I know they get in at a way higher GPA. DiggySRNA
...I am just wondering about the GPA most students get in. The programs say one GPA,but I know they get in at a way higher GPA. The average PA applicant (matriculated) is said to have a 3.5 GPA, young (arbitrary), white, female, with 2000+ hours of HCE. How do you know "they" get in at a higher GPA, if the program itself stated otherwise?
cop to pa
Take a look at both the GPA for the programs you are interested in, and the PAEA's annual reports; which lists both applicant and matriculant mean GPAs on a national level.

cop to pa
3.0 is the minimum to be considered. It is one part of a multi-part application. The more applicants per seat there are, the higher the standard for acceptance will be.
Administrator rev ronin Posted May 21, 2016 Administrator Share Posted May 21, 2016 Many programs list both a minimum GPA, as well as an average or range of GPAs represented in the most recent class. For example, Pacific University lists a 3.0 minimum for CASPA BCP and their 'Last 45' GPA (http://www.pacificu.edu/future-graduate-professional/colleges/college-health-professions/areas-study/physician-assistant-studies/admission-criteria) While at the same time showing the most recent class average (http://www.pacificu.edu/future-graduate-professional/colleges/college-health-professions/areas-study/physician-assistant-studies/program-admission) which are 3.59 and 3.79, respectively. Those two bits of data don't show up on the same web page, but it's not particularly hidden--anyone perusing the web site looking at admission criteria will encounter both. Disciple3
I think as long as you have a 3.5 from a respected school you are on a level playing field with everyone else (GPA wise). I got into places with that 3.5 avg with a 3.05, GPA is not the only part of your application and maybe should be one of the things you worry about the least!
