Holiday pay

If you were a part time worker paid hourly, would you expect to be paid for a Holiday ie: Memorial if that was your regular scheduled work day? The clinic is closed for the holiday. Holiday pay is not one of my perks however being that it falls on my work day and I would be there if it were not a holiday.

If holiday pay is not a perk, plus being a part time employee; I'd say no.

Unless you have an agreement on a guaranteed # of hours....no; I would not expect pay.

Nope. Both of my jobs are hourly - one full time and one part time. Days the clinic is closed, I don't get paid. My full time UC job rarely closes except maybe for inclement weather in the winter but if you were scheduled to work you lose those hours unless you use PTO. My part time job I have no PTO so if the clinic is closed the day I'm usually there = no pay.

If you are scheduled or contracted to work a certain number of hours per week, and the holiday disrupts that, then yes you should get paid. But I don't believe they are legally obligated to do so unless it's in your contract or their bylaws.

I think a good employer would pay this if indeed you are benefited, and the holiday falls on a scheduled work week

 

I have had one's that do this in the past, and some that don't
