cushball08
Just curious how do your doctor co workers introduce you to a patient? I have one physician coworker that introduces me as "her assistant".
LKPAC
you need to nix that right away. You are her partner or colleague, you are no one's assistant.
Reality Check 2
We aren't possessions as the misplaced apostrophe often implies. I would insist on colleague or partner or even PA partner if one really needs to present that you aren't a doctor. Set the precedent and start introducing yourself to patients as Jane Doe, Physician Assistant, Dr. Smith's PA partner or partner. I have been doing that since I took over a retiring doc's practice and we are a one doc, 2 PA practice. I want the patients to get used to it. It also shows a respectful relationship with your doc and a degree of honor to your position - as in you didn't go to school for 9 months and get a certificate - you are a trained partner. Do the right thing and let's move forward.
Moderator ventana Posted May 2, 2016 Moderator Share Posted May 2, 2016 Give your doc's a heads up that you prefer to be introduced as Mrs Smith PA NEVER say the word assistant Try very hard to discourage the doc's from calling you that...... Doesn't help anyone.....
