Administrator rev ronin Posted April 2, 2016 Administrator Share Posted April 2, 2016 Looks like Washington has just made PAs working in psychiatry equivalent to Psych ARNPs for all practical purposes: http://lawfilesext.leg.wa.gov/biennium/2015-16/Pdf/Bills/Senate%20Passed%20Legislature/6445-S.PL.pdf A WAPA blurb announced this, and it would be interesting to hear some commentary from psych PAs on how this will help. The law goes into effect in June.

rpackelly
Long law but the governing statute on admission to voluntary and involuntary mental health treatment in Washington State. Basically adds "physician assistant working under the supervision of a psychiatrist" to all of the laws that previously just listed "psychiatrist, physician, advanced psychiatry nurse practitioner" to every section of the law. Looks great.
DizzyJ
awesome. When I worked in Ohio I was not allowed to sign an involuntary hold (pink slip/5150) as a PA but a police officer could.
