Part-time work

Recommended Posts

I'm an aspiring PA student.

I'm interested in 20 hours per week or 20-30 hours per week in the future.

How plentiful are part-time positions in general? Among specialties?

I'm particularly interested in dermatology (cosmetic and medical) and in a major city like NYC.

Among part-time positions, how common are they permanent vs. more temporary?

Also, what does the capstone project in PA school usually consist of? Do we choose specific topics? If I want to go into dermatology, do we usually have the freedom to choose a topic like medical or cosmetic dermatology?

Any experience and input would be appreciated.

My bad. I thought about that but I'm not a common forum user and I wasn't sure if by posting in only 1 relevant category would give my question the same coverage as posting in all relevant categories that people would be browsing in. But thanks for that, I will adjust my activity in the future.

I would delete some but I don't think I can.

Part time work is fairly abundant. Dermatology is a hard profession to get into (for PAs and doctors alike). NY is also not the best state for PAs. That being said it is doable. But if you are set on part time Derm I'm not sure that will be very attainable in NY without prior experience. If you changed your mind about specialties or would travel, it is not that uncommon for PAs that want to to work PT only.
