The VA in my town is NOT hiring ANY PAs - period.

No one knows why.

They ONLY want physicians and maybe sorta an NP or two.

I have an inside source who is trying to figure out why.

The whole "supervision" aspect is said to be unappealing to physicians and I bet new grad docs are being taught that it is "risky".

So, congrats that any VA is offering good employment.

I wish the one near me would remove cerebrum from orifice............................

I have been debating where to post this, but since this mentions the VA... I recently saw an article that says the VA is considering full practice authority for NP's. While I think this is good for them, it is one more example of PA'S getting left behind in this respect. The article also says 21 states give NP'S full practice authority. Do PA'S have this ability anywhere? I love being a PA, and do not feel bitterness toward NP'S (we are on the same team), but every time i read an article like this, I kinda regret not becoming a NP. What is the aapa or paft doing here? The aanp is kicking your butt and I feel like our profession is falling more behind NP'S every day.
