fuzzypa Posted November 9, 2015 Share Posted November 9, 2015 Hi everyone. I'm a PA in NY and have been practicing for 1.5+ years now. I'm moving to Texas and currently in the process of obtaining my license in Texas. So I've got the document submission under control but I just have a few questions. 1. I'm slightly worried about the Jurisprudence Exam. From the website, there is a pool of 100 sample questions (http://www.tmb.state.tx.us/idl/7949A6BB-1C85-18A8-46AF-1734DFABC9AF). I've essentially been studying from this only. Is this enough or do I have to read the laws? I heard that the exam is only 50 questions from this online pool. What was your experience with the JP exam? 2. Am I allowed to look for a job while I'm still trying to obtain my license or do I look for jobs after I have my license? Thanks in advance. Moderator True Anomaly Posted November 9, 2015 Moderator Share Posted November 9, 2015 The jurisprudence exam literally comes from that pool of questions, and only there- the questions are word-for-word from that question bank. And, it's really up to your employer if they're wiling to hire you before you have a license. I would look for a job pre-license since credentialing takes awhile at most places and the licensing board only meets 4 times per year. Also- there is no reason your temp license should not give you the same privileges as your regular license, although some clinics take some prodding in this direction. loliz Posted November 12, 2015 Share Posted November 12, 2015 You can do whatever has been delegated to you , just as with a regular license. I looked at the TMB website and it says that you can not do online delegation with a temporary license, but there is a link to the hard paper option. I'm looking for an orthopedic position in San Antonio and I was wondering if I have to be an Orthopedic specialty certified PA to practice in Orthopedics in Texas. While reviewing the question bank of questions provided and noticed some of the regulations have changed, are the exam questions based on current regulations of the study guide only.
