vamos
What is SJVC's standing on combined Anatomy and Physiology courses? I will be giving them a call tomorrow, but figured I would fire off a contingency question just in case anyone on here would know.

Applicants must have completed 60 semester or 90 quarter college units with an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher. Completion of prerequisite science courses should be with a grade of "B" or better. A minimum of 3 semester or 4 quarter units is required for each of the following courses or equivalent:* Human Anatomy with lab Human Physiology with lab
just_me
seems like a combined A&P course would be the eqiv as long as you take both parts 1 and
LESH
If the units add up an interview may be granted. There are ADCOM members that do not consider this as competitive as taking the courses separately. There are ADCOM members that don't care as long as the grade is B or above. To the OP, it might be better to call next week.
just_me
Is it really that different? My A&P was taught by a practicing ortho physician....he kicked my butt for two semesters....I barely made it out alive :(
LESH
I can't answer that one way or the other. I do know that some of the ADCOM members like to see separate classes. How that impacts their final selection choice I don't know.
vamos
Thanks for the heads up, Les. I can see both sides to this, but unfortunately have to be on one side. However, I will be giving SJVC a call next week regardless.

Student_559
I've called SJVC about this particular question before. They told me the combined A&P class would be accepted as long as I took either another Anatomy course or Physiology course with a Lab. The A&P course also needed a lab and the unit requirement must be met.
docreddy8404
Was doing my research on the school and the website only mentioned the same as above. 60 semester hours/90 quarter hours of the core science courses as requirements. Is bachelor's degree as requirement for admission into the program?

creynolds
I also took a combined A&P class with a lab that was more focused on the anatomy which was only one semester. My class did not have the required number of units, so I took a separate Physiology course with a lab and it was accepted. I agree it is best to call and speak to someone to make sure you meet all the pre-reqs.
LESH
With all the cutbacks in classes within the UC, CSU and CCC systems you may have to check around. We know it is becoming more difficult to get into some of these classes, but it still can be done. Good luck. We are trying to work with applicants as much as we can. loner007
No it wouldnt. I was granted and interview because i took that (anatomy/physiology) combo class, but sjvc had asked that i take physiology course seperately the next time i reapplied with a "B" or better. Maybe because of the "C" i got in that class? think so. Anyhow, i just finished taking physiology (anatomy was taken 2 semester ago with an "A") this semester and also got an "A". I hope this helps.
