paproof
Anybody using an EMR in an ER setting with implemented ICD-10? How do you like it? Still stuck on ICD-9 over here.
Administrator rev ronin Posted October 19, 2015 Administrator Share Posted October 19, 2015 Worse, I'm having to do everything, by hand, in both ICD-9 and ICD-10 because "some insurance companies aren't ready yet". You know, I should be getting paid more to do their work for them. If ICD-10 is mandated, and I submit ICD-10 codes, then unprepared insurance companies should pay for any back-coding, and should pay penalties if they're late with payments for doing so. Hello? State Insurance commissioners?!
jmj11
Insurance companies should pay for ALL mandated paper work, such as prior-auths, claim chasing due to their errors and others. They would all go bankrupt . . . instead of the small practices going bankrupt doing their work for them and fixing their errors. We need a multi-billion dollar class action lawsuit to change things. jmj11
We have had a pretty good experience with Kareo during the transition. It is great at finding ICD 10 and will make suggestions of several close choices. We just switched to Kareo. I was using gloStream ( now Triarq Health ) for the previous 15 months. While it had a decent EHR, the billing software was a disaster for our practice with many claim submission failures and almost no technical support during 2014. Even though their staff have admitted failure at giving us adequate technical support during this time, they are refusing to allow us out of our contract and said they will demand full monthly payments for the next 14 months, even if we go out of business. Don't sign a contract with them. I had asked nicely to allow us out but they refused. Now we are circling our wagons in preparation for a breach of contract suit for damages. jmj11
We are getting paid okay. As a matter of fact, this was one of our best collection weeks ever and this was on DOS after Oct 1st (mostly).
samkim88
Anybody using an EMR in an ER setting with implemented ICD-10? How do you like it? Still stuck on ICD-9 over here. We use AthenaNet and I am part of the project management team at our office that was responsible for converting some of our "Most Favored ICD-9" to ICD-10. Overall Athenanet did a great job and we haven't noticed too much change, for the most part we search in the dx field the dx which automatically populates the most general ICD-10's, then gives you a second drop down menu in which you can specify more in detail. However, we are experiencing some difficulties with not being able to search a dx using the ICD-10, rather, they force us to search via dx name or snomed, but they are currently implementing the search function to be searchable via ICD-10 code. We prefer to have the ICD-10 code searchable in because of HRA/HCC reasons, which will ensure us that we will be reimbursed from Medicare.
