Do you believe in me?

Recommended Posts

Okay so I am a pretty nervous person because I want to apply to PA school for my master's in NYC and PHILLY. I took another year because my GPA was quite low...right now it is a 2.9 but I believe I can bring that up this semester and next semester. I want to apply for next Fall 2016 in every school that has a PA program in NYC and philly for masters. I have over 5000 hours + of direct patient care work, references from the head of a DDD population company which I have worked for for over a year, another reference from when I did a year of EMS, and a lot of professors I can ask for a recommendation letter. I already have two so my ultimate question is... Do you guys believe in my being accepted into any pa program next year? I have three C-'s but it was during a time where I was having CONSTANT medical and psychiatric issues but I am over that and I am okay...I am just nervous now because even though I know I am going to EXCEL this semester (because I am taking some pretty good science classes with cool professors), I am still very nervous whether or not I may get in...Also, I am portuguese, maybe that will help since not alot of portuguese people go into this profession? I dont know...ADVICE PLEASE :/

What about the three C-'s?

depends what they are in.

Biology 1a, that's a problem. Elizabethan poetry? probably ok.

I went to an undergrad university that gave narrative evaluations along with grades. I good a C- in a gen ed class called "music cultures of asia" along with the comment "this is the lowest passing grade I have ever given in this class" and no PA program cared because the same term I got As in A+P and several other upper division courses.

I agree with retaking at least biochem. Before I applied I had a C- in animal physiology, a C in organic chemistry, a C in physics 1, a B- in biochem, and an E in history of art 101.

I retook everything except physics (because I got an A in physics 2) and biochem, and got either an A or A- in each. When it came to my interview, they asked about the C's, and I was able to show where I had retaken the class and improved. I think that's what schools want to see. You need to prove that you are able to handle the coursework now, at least for biochem, since that's a prereq. I graduated PA school with just under a 3.8, so yes - assuming that you've improved your study habits and ability to handle the courses, I believe in you.
