I'm starting to think they may not be ready for a 2016 start.

I think they are having issue with communication from the graduate admissions office because I know of an applicant that was told by the graduate admissions at SRU to apply though them and never mentioned anything about CASPA so I think that may be causing a delay in the process. I also think that maybe the review process is just taking them longer than they expected since they are are new program but I think they will be ready for the class to start in 2016:)

Really? That's good. Because normally new programs only start with about 25-30 students. About how many did they say they expect to admit?

I want to say I remember them saying something upwards of 40, tops 60. The only thing that makes me nervous is the lack of communication. Other newer programs have had much better lines of communication with potential applicants, especially on the status of the program and expectations.

I love the town of Slippery Rock and was very excited about the program when I met with some of the faculty but the lack of communication as a whole makes me hesitate.

Thats a shame. I haven't contacted them directly but their website seemed to have a lot of information compared to most newer programs. But then again it said they started interview invites in september I believe and we have yet to hear anything. I haven't been to the town, but I've heard good things about the school and the area. Did you go on an individual visit? I didn't see anything on their website about any information sessions, which would've been nice.

Hopefully we'll hear something soon. I guess the upside of this long wait would be that many applicants would have accepted seats at other schools, leaving more open for us. Hopefully we hear something soon though.

Hi guys, I was in touch with a faculty member last week concerning the community service hours because there was some confusion with my hours when I first applied and they informed me that they are looking to start interviewing in November. They have been working a lot on the accredidation aspect and putting a lot of energy and resources into that to make sure that they get accredited. From what I have collected about this program the faculty are very excited to get it started and are doing everything they can to get it accredited so I am sure they will make sure that they are prepared for the 2016 class:)

It was an individual information session I set up. The downside for some of us is we've already been accepted some places.

I'm glad they're working so hard on securing the accreditation. I just hope they're not rushing the process. It might be better to wait for 2017. The most important thing is for Slippery Rock to maintain their cert. If they lose it because not enough people pass their boards, all of the tuition spent on 2+ years of education is down the tubes. It's important to understand what Provisional Accreditation means.

That being said, when I met some of the faculty, it's obvious they are passionate about the program and I have no doubt Slippery Rock will have an amazing program once everything falls into place.
