spflynn4
Hey everybody, happy CASPA season! I've been trolling this forum for advice and insights on my personal statement, but I think I've come up with something that's stumping me. Is it frowned upon/helpful/neutral to talk about your own chronic illness in your personal statement? I'm a type 1 diabetic, and I used to be seen by a PA (at a clinic that's a clinical site for one of the programs I'm applying to!). I think that I could write convincingly about my own struggles with diabetes, but I don't want to come across like I'm trying to play a pity card with the adcom. I'm mortified of using my diabetes as a crutch. Does anybody have any thoughts or experience with this type of thing?
Moderator EMEDPA Posted April 22, 2015 Moderator Share Posted April 22, 2015 should be ok to discuss in your statement.
