Patient Contact Hours

Recommended Posts

A lot of the programs I am looking into require about 1,000 hours of patient contact prior to admittance to PA school. A friend of mine recently told me that getting these hours by becoming a CNA isn't the best route, that schools are looking for EMT's, and Radiology Techs now. Is this true? Does anyone have more information? Thanks!

No, look at what a CNA can do...you can be employed by a hospital, LTCF, you can go with an agency or you can go out on your own..craigslist. For every emt or rad tech that has a job there are about 8-10 CNAs employed. If you go with an agency, you can call your own hrs and type of work. You can also do Paramedic, CMA, or RRT but they are longer. What ever you do make sure you love what you do, you're the one that has to get up every day an go to work...good luck!
