jacindachan
I'm currently in college in a different city, but I'm going back to my hometown over the summer. I was wondering, can I contact PAs now to ask if I can shadow them over the summer? Or is that too early? Also, do you have any advice regarding contacting a PA? I read that cold calling them is better than emailing. Thank you very much! -Jacinda
ddisilvestro
I would agree that cold calling is better, email will get lost with the business of any hospital or office, and often go overlooked. There is no set timeline, it depends really, on your schedule and theirs. You may want to start now in case you don't have luck. If you get lucky and someone says yes, just ask if you can defer until the summer.
cop to pa
I actually mailed physical letters to PAs at their practice. I figured that phone calls while at work could be an annoyance and I didn't always have a reliable e-mail. I included my email and cell number and received a contact from every letter I sent the same day the PA received it. The novelty of a hand written letter can really work wonders. bleu
Agree with cop to pa. I, too, sent hand-written letters to PAs for the same reasons that were mentioned. While I didn't have 100% response as cop to pa did, for about 10 letters that I sent, I got about 5 responses and shadowed those PAs. It worked very well for me.
