troygem
From a practical stand point how does prescribing of scheduled meds work in the emergency department in Florida?
sotaskimmer
I'm only a PA student in the clinical year, but from what I've seen in the emergency room, the PAs bring scrips to the doc they're working under that shift to be signed. Orders for controlled substances within the hospital (ER included) don't need to be signed. Again, this has just been my 2nd hand experience and my knowledge of the current law. Can you clarify? if controlled meds within the ED don't require a doc signature then what are they getting signed?
