TWR
In September of 2013, my employer for whom I had been working for since Aprill 22, 2013, informs me that I needed to be tested for titers for Rubella, Rubeola, varicella Zoster,Hep B surface, and Mumps. I was born prior to 1957 by more than a decade. I have gone back and forth with Quest about a bill for the testing totaling $568.92. Final bill arrived yesterday for that amount after changing "codes" to get it covered. My employer feels that it is my responsibility to pay this bill. I do not think it is mine to pay as it was not requested prior to emplyment. My understanding at the time was that the employer would pay what ever the insurance did not (medicare with supplement). The insurance denied any payment to Quest. I think I will fight the employer over this. What do you think?

Acebecker
Do you like the job? If so, meet them half way. If not or you're ambivalent about the job, then push the issue. It could make bad blood between you and your employer - if it's a job you like then this would be a bad thing. If you don't care then it's a non-issue. jmj11
I'm an employer. I would never demand that an employee do something that I wouldn't pay for.

primadonna22274
If the employer requires the tests, the employer pays for those tests. Same goes for mandatory immunizations. Part of the cost of doing business and a tiny amount of money to a practice--not so tiny to you. Should have never been charged to your own insurance IMO. LIPPER
Are you required to pay for mandatory tox screens? Same concept. It's a work requirement. Did you request an immunization screening? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
TWR
Update. Practice has begrudgingly agreed to pay me the full amount for required testing. Thanks for everyone's input. I had owned my own practice in NY for 18 years and always paid for anything like this for my staff. Just wasn't sure how to approach this practice. Thanks.
