mlsclm
I'm curious to know if there are any PAs in this specialty. The ID docs I've asked say they've only worked with NPs. Also wondering if I can coax any interesting cases out of the vets here...
cinntsp
One of the lecturers at the board review course I went to worked in ID so they're definitely out there. Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
whoRyou
There are a few here ... Just look around
rpackelly
Many PAs worked in ID in the "boom period" of HIV. Less so now but quite a number still in HIV or in gastroenterology treating Hep C. Less so for general ID or on consult services. I did it for three or four years with HIV and learned a boat load of internal medicine.
AllisonPAC
I'm a PA in ID (general ID and consulting, but we do it all...) and I had an ID rotation with a PA at an HIV clinic. I also see another ID PA in one of the hospitals I round at so in total (including myself) I have seen 3....but yes we do exist :)
skyblue3
I'm a new grad who's been offered two ID/HIV clinic positions and was going to interview with an in-patient ID transplant consult team but decided otherwise. So like AllisonPAC said, there are ID PAs and there are still jobs out there...
IDPA2012
Also an ID PA, only specialty I wanted to work in so I moved to a large hospital where we have 5 PAs in ID (+1 NP). I do Orthopedic Infectious Diseases specifically and love it!
Chubert
I'm contemplating an offer with an ID practice that works in multiple hospitals and also has a clinic with mostly HIV patients. I'm a new grad, did ID as elective rotation and loved it, but now trying to weigh if this is the best thing to gain experience if I want to do acute care or internal medicine later on. Don't want to pigeon hole myself early on. Sounds like others learned a ton of internal medicine doing ID though...
