Retake Chem Courses?

Recommended Posts

I am currently working on a BS in Chemistry. When I was a freshman/sophomore I hadn't yet decided I wanted to be a PA and so I didn't care much for my grades. I passed my early chemistry courses with C's. Now that i'm working on my upper division coursework i've been doing great and have received mostly A's. I expect to graduate with a GPA around 3.6 . Do you guys think I should retake those courses? Since they're pre-reqs for the pa programs I am interested in.

Absolutely, do not retake chem courses to improve a C. You have a good overall GPA. If you need to increase your science GPA, take other, more relevant science courses like immunology, parasitology, molecular biology, etc.

No, as long as your prereqs are not C-s (since many schools require C or higher on prereq coursework).

I actually applied to some schools that required all prerequisites to be B's at minimum, so if that's the case for the schools you're applying to, definitely retake. Also just make sure the C's don't bring down your science GPA too much. Otherwise, there's probably no need to retake them.
