Looking for shadowing opportunities near the greater Detroit area.

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for shadowing opportunities in the Detroit/Dearborn area this summer. I'm a responsible college senior with volunteering experience looking to decide if I want to go to PA school.

Thank you and if anyone has any information, please feel free to add!

Hello!

I am also looking for shadowing opportunities in the Metro Detroit area. I have contacted all of the big hospitals and they either don't have a shadowing program or I have to know a PA personally to shadow, which I dont, and have them fill out paperwork for me to shadow. I have also tried contacting PAs on the Physician assistant shadowing online website but I have not received any replies it doesn't appear that website gets used often. Currently I am down to contacting small clinics which either haven't called back or don't have a shadowing program. Any time shadowing a PA would be very appreciated and would mean a lot.

Very Respecfully,

Rick

I have contacted many offices in the area and most clinics don't offer any shadowing opportunities or they require me to know a Physician assistant to shadow. If there are any PAs that can spare any time it would be much appreciated. Cold calling doesn't seem to be the trick. Right now it would seem the best way for me to get PA experience if for me to be a PA.

Hi all,

I realize this thread is from August, however in my free time I have come across it...Have you tried contacting teaching hospitals? St. John Providence is excellent with setting up with shadowing opportunities. I found a PA in oncology and she was more than happy to have me shadow. Also I have heard McLaren hospitals are good with this too. As for cold-calling, it has honestly worked for me. Keep trying. Also ask family members and friends if they have seen any PA's or know of someone who has seen a PA recently. You will find you'll come across lots of possible options this way. Hope this helps!
