Tou
To make the story short, I failed to mention that in the past one of my previous occupation is exotic dancing. I did what I needed to do to support myself and my family. I did it all through nursing school up until I got a job as a nurse. I'm not ashamed of it. I contemplated about the idea of not mentioning it in my application because I'm afraid of possible repercussions. I went to an open house at one of the brand new program around my area and one of the admission commitee member used to be a client of mine. My plan was definitely not to apply to that one program. But my question is, what happens if I don't mention any of that at all during the application process?
PASASM92
Don't mention it. It's likely that they are hoping you don't mention it either. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
SoCalPA
I wouldn't let it stop me from applying. Programs are too competitive to not apply to a program you would really consider and where you have a chance of getting it. However, I definitely wouldn't mention it. In fact I would act like I never met "the client" if you meet them in interview. I would hope that the adcom would be able to differentiate from their current position and their previous one, if that makes sense.

Guest KRJames
Lol whoRyou, you always have the most animated posts! I do have to say though, boy you are tough on what is spam... I don't know this could be real? In all the applicants in all the world, surely atleast one time this has happened?
zoopeda
I only mentioned relevant work experience in my application. Exotic dancing is arguably irrelevant. Except, of course, when an admissions committee member used to attend your shows! Small world...
cinntsp
They don't want to know if you were a stripper just like they don't want to know if you delivered pizzas. They only want to know why you are a good candidate. Leave it out.
Moderator LT_Oneal_PAC Posted July 26, 2014 Moderator Share Posted July 26, 2014 This thread is worthless without pics. Just kidding. Couldn't resist. It's no big deal and I wouldn't mention it.
Guest Paula
If you are not ashamed of your previous occupation why are you even asking the question?
zoopeda
Because she's worried the admissions committee will look down upon the experience, which would bar her acceptance. Shame may or may not have anything to do with it...

Moderator LT_Oneal_PAC Posted July 27, 2014 Moderator Share Posted July 27, 2014 Most troll posts don't come from people who've been on the forum a year and building an appropriate back story that long for one unimpressive post.
andersenpa
Troll or not, for ANYONE, if you have previous work experience that is not health care related then you do not have to disclose it.
