Applicants for 2015 start

Recommended Posts

hey jbbrink,

I submitted my ap last week for UNM. Feeling the same way you are. Hope it's not as comptetitive like previous years. I know they have a new advisor this year who goes over and review the ap to make sure you meet the requirements. Then after that she will send out a supplemental ap. She said she will be doing things a little different this year, so we'll see how it goes. Good Luck!

I feel so behind everyone else but I will be submitting my application to UNM and St. Francis tonight. Essay took a tad longer than I thought. I am a second year applicant. I was first on the wait list last year, so I'm hoping the application process isn't too different from last year...I also haven't heard anything about the accredidation though.

Last year I didn't receive the supplemental application until Labor Day weekend. Then we had two weeks to respond. So get ready to do more writing! I think it took them another month or so to start scheduling interviews for November. But I've already been told that they have no idea when they will be this year (I called).

The interview was stressful, but it was a group interview that was mostly filled with questions geared towards how you respond in healthcare situations. It was a half day with about 20 people and 3 sections. Don't know if it will change this year though...

I was wondering what type of health care situations are presented in the interview?  Sort of clinical / diagnostic responses or?  Thanks!

I just submitted my supplemental application.  When you say group interview, is it a oral interview with everyone at once, or are the interview questions written?  I too was wondering about the healthcare situations as well.  I met with the advisor and she also indicated there may be some changes with the interview.  Also, if you get a supplemental does that mean you are in line for the interview or can you still be rejected?  Really appreciate any input.  This is my 2nd year applying, but I didn't even get to the supplemental last year because I had 1 prerequsite "in progress".

Thanks!

Id say clinical and diagnostic questions probably. But I don't remember each specific situation. There was actually a written portion and an oral portion. All group except for the written though. I'm pretty sure the point of the supplemental application is to weed more people out, since the only interview about 50 ppl I think. So i would think the supplemental definitely matters.
