Lymphonucleosis
Hi all. I have been a pharm tech for a year (My sophmore year of college) and have been a lab assistant/ phleb. for the past two years. I am currently enrolled into an EMT -B program for the coming semester and hope to accumulate great experience there. I feel like pharm tech shouldn't really be considered quality HCE but the lab assistant/phleb position has actually been very informative. I have learned so much about testing and disease states it hardly seems like only two years have gone by. I have frequent interaction with doctors and PA's/NP when ordering tests and questions about tests. I of course draw outpatients that come through the lab as well. Should I bother applying to programs that require 1000+ HCE or exclude those from my list this round? I have a pretty stellar GPA/ pre-reqs so low HCE programs are reachable but not geographically local.
DennisG
I'd say call the programs that have the higher HCE threshold and ask them if pharm tech qualifies. Depending on their answer, you should act accordingly.
