RCKimeryJr
Hello and Happy New Year to everyone! Caspa will be opening up in a couple of months and this application cycle will soon be underway! I figured we could start a thread for hopeful and potential applicants for this program to get to know each other and possibly exchange and advice and information about what to expect! CCBC is among my top choices, if not my top choice and I plan on applying for this program as soon as the Spring grades are in! Best of luck to everyone! jlhdw3
I applied this year before the program was put on probation status. I guess this change does not deter your interest? Would you like to share your thoughts on the new probation status and the program?
Audidane
I am applying to CCBC/Towson and AACC. Good luck to all of you :) What is your healthcare experience? I have been a cardiac sonographer for 2 years. I'm shadowing PA's now and considering volunteering. Are you all shadowing PA's? If so how many hours? Have you volunteered? If so how many hours? Just trying to get a grasp on what it considered competitive. I know some people don't bother shadowing or volunteering because they feel their HCE is so strong. My GPA is pretty average so I'm thinking I need that little extra to be a little more well rounded.
RCKimeryJr
I have been working as a personal trainer for four years, I worked as a chiropractic assistant for six months, and I will be working as a physical therapy tech/aide this upcoming semester. My situation is somewhat difficult because some schools accept personal training as HCE where as others do not. Towson/CCBC thankfully does! Currently I do not have any volunteer hours but I have shadowed various PA's for approximately 25 hours. I am working on shadowing between 50-100 hours though for more experience and insight. My overall GPA will most likely end up around 3.5ish because I did not do too well at community college but I have a strong upward trend because my last 60+ credits have been nothing but A's. I am definitely stressing the application process but I am hoping to use my uniqueness to my advantage! I don't mind that the program is currently under probation. I live in MD and do not want to take out excessive loans to go to an out of state school. I have heard great things about the program and I had a cousin that went there as well and said it was a great program. Best of luck to everyone! I would love to share any insight or tips that we come across.
sls18
I've been a registered dietitian working clinically in the hospital mostly surgery, ICU, and NICU. I have tons of patient hours, health care management/policy, and rounding with the ICU team. I'm hoping that will help! I'm shadowing a few PAs I'm friends with but I've had a more difficult time shadowing the PAs I work with because of their busy surgery schedule. I'm still going to apply for Towson. I've talked to some of the graduates and I really don't think that it will be shut down. Also I think the probation status might deter some applicants which would help with likely hood of acceptance. I also live in MD and don't want to go out of state! I just bought a house last year and I really don't want to have to see it anytime soon. Patho
Greeting. I spoke to the program's director last year during an information session and he stated that the probation status was due to the program's book keeping and how they file and maintain past students information, not academic deficiencies. This is a new director btw. I plan to apply this year also. I've been a medical technologist for the last five years with limited patient exposure. Most of my time form the last year and on have been volunteering at community clinics, facilities that see patients with special needs such as the NIH, shadowing MD and NP, and taking a couple of classes. I plan on shadowing several PAs going forward. I've recently signed up with my county's health and human services department to do health promotion targeting low income immigrants. Based on the program brochure they put a lot of emphasis on community and rural health. I also plan on doing a 1-2 week mission trip aboard if time permits. I cannot remember this correctly, but I recall someone from the information session telling me that interviews are granted based on meeting the requirements. They average around 800 apps per year, maybe most of these do not meet the minimum requirements. Hope this helps.
RCKimeryJr
Is anyone going to the information session next Tuesday at 6pm?
BMBenn
I will also be applying this cycle =] I actually go to Towson, graduate in May, and attended an information session recently. As already stated, apparently their status had more to do with bookkeeping. I'd love to get into this program, it's so close by!
RCKimeryJr
BMBenn, it looks like we will be applying to a couple of the same programs! I'm going to the next information session. How was the one last week?

I'm interested in seeing the stats of other applicants for this cycle? Of course, only post if you are comfortable. Is there a minimum GRE score?
