jbs
Does anyone have any info. on how Denver hospitals staff their EDs? I am from IL and many hospitals here subcontract to firms like Best Practices or Infinity to staff their EDs. Thank you, JBS
x98peterson
Yes. Most sub contract out making it difficult to know where to apply. I would call each hospitals HR office for info on which companies they use. Good luck.

jbs
Thanks EMDPA...appreciate the response. Not sure if Phooey is taking advantage of medicinal marijuana and imagined an extremely unlikely event or stumbled upon a black swan.
GreatChecko
PAs are used in just about every ED in the Denver area. A few like Denver Health and the Health One system (HCA) are to my knowledge hospital employees. Otherwise, they are employees of physician groups that contract with the hospital. At St. Joe's, IIRC, the PAs are Kaiser employees. The two MD groups I know of are Ergentus and Apex. Good luck as the Denver market is very competitive. Colorado
I know this is an old thread, but being from CO and working in the hospitals there I thought I would chime in. Most ER's and hospitals use PAs. There are NPs as well, but very rare in the ED. Like others have said, its a tough market. I had a nice little setup before I left it all to attend PA school out of state, and I know it will be an exciting challenge to get back there. The hospital I worked at used PAs to run the "Fast Track" section, but they also took care of Pts in the regular part of the ED as well. We had two PAs on at a time that were staggered in shifts throughout the day. We ran 9 hour shifts for MDs and PAs, with 12 hour shifts for the rest of the medical staff.
